1. The culture. The culture is very rich and has its influences from many different cultures including The Middle East, North Africa, China, and Vienna. It is this diversity that makes it such a unique and interesting place to experience.

2. Religion. If you’re a religious person, then this is the place to be. Here you can find a wide variety of religions and places to practice those religions while you’re away from home. You can pay a visit to the Kariye Museum (The Chora Church) which has mosaics depicting certain scenes from the lives of The Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ. The majority of the population is Muslim and what an interesting religion it is. If you want to learn about the Muslim religion, this is the best place to do it.

3. The food. Turkey has some of the best and most unique food in the world hands down. If you’re an avid eater such, you’ll find that you can get your food fix in Istanbul. And you’ll never have to deal with the same boring menu everyday ever again. You could try a new food, like Kuskus Salatasi.

4. The markets. No, not the grocery store, and definitely not the stock market. The shopping is what I’m referring to. So many unique items ranging from clothing to glassware, to beautiful things like reed diffusers flood the shopping areas of Istanbul. You’re sure to find the perfect gift for a friend, relative, or even yourself. The perfect souvenir could be just blocks away. Make sure to take time out of your planned schedule to do a little shopping!

5. Night owls. Are you a night owl? Don’t worry. Just because it’s religious doesn’t mean there isn’t nightlife in Istanbul. Nightlife there is a little different from most countries, but it’s a nightlife none the less. Don’t be afraid to hang out after hours, and have a little fun.

6. The Attraction. This city has its fair share of attraction and one of the most popular is the Topkapi Palace which was the home to the sultans. The Blue Mosque is another attraction that is so spectacular to see.
